Schools Projects

Schools Projects

SRP visits schools across the length of Scotland to contribute to class projects, promote awareness of historic rural settlement sites and help pupils and teachers find out how people lived and farmed in the past. We visit each school to talk about the rural past in their district and the work which SRP does to record it. Where possible we also visit an abandoned township, farm or croft close to the school to sketch, measure and draw the remains.

The class talks and site visits encourage children to make their own observations, deductions and interpretations of life in the past, through active hands-on learning which can be extended in the classroom. Plotted on this map are the regions where we have undertaken projects with schools. Use the drop down menus to select and view each project.
